Highly skilled workforce is an essential component in any company’s strategy to be competitive, locally and internationally. The current scenario of abundant cheap labour force in many Asian (especially ASEAN) countries makes Malaysian industry unable to compete for market share and foreign investment. One of the ways to regain labour competitiveness is to make our workforce highly competent. Unfortunately, On-Job-Training (OJT) has been largely left to the shop floor personnel and is often conducted in an ad-hoc and unsystematic manner. This severely limits effectiveness of OJT. Under ISO9001 Quality Management System, an employee must be competent to perform his specific duty. This means that we need a system to train the employee, competent trainers, effective training materials and an evaluation to test competency.

This training is designed to train experienced and skilled Shop-floor personnel and develop them into Competent trainers. This training is divided into four Competency based modules:

Module 1: Task Analysis & Preparation of Training Manual
Module 2: OJT Coaching Skills
Module 3: Presentation and Communication Skills
Module 4: OJT Evaluation Methods

For each module trainee is required to demonstrate his competence. Those who complete all modules successfully will be presented with “FMM Jurulatih OJT Yang Kompeten” certificate.

This 8-day certification programme aims to help participants to:
• Conduct a thorough and effective task analysis for any job under their responsibility using at least three techniques
• Prepare a comprehensive, easy to understand OJT Training Manual for any given task
• Evaluate an OJT Training Manual and suggest improvements to make it more effective
• Conduct an effective On-Job-Training session for both unskilled and semi-skilled employees
• Apply the 4-step coaching methodology to the OJT session
• Use positive feedback to increase training effectiveness and trainee motivation
• Prepare Competency and Knowledge evaluation tests for a variety of jobs under their responsibility
• Administer Competency test and interpret competency result
• Prepare Skill Matrix visual display
• Evaluate existing testing methods and suggest improvement
